Supplies automated license plate reader hardware and software, including the Vigilant Solutions product line acquired in 2019. Vigilant's commercial databases and long-running deployments mean Motorola-lineage ALPR data can predate — and outlast — the newer subscription systems that attract most of the public attention.

Why the older systems matter
Public debate has concentrated on the newest and most visible deployments. But Motorola Solutions hardware is the second-most-recorded vendor in the national camera layer after Flock Safety, and Vigilant-lineage systems have been operating in some jurisdictions far longer than the vendors currently making headlines. Current counts are on the Atlas, filtered by vendor — they are not repeated here, because a number typed into a page is a number nobody re-runs.
Two consequences follow, and both are easy to miss:
Historical depth. A system running for a decade holds a deeper movement history than one installed last year, whatever its current retention setting says.
Policy blind spots. An ordinance or council resolution drafted in response to one vendor’s product can leave an older deployment entirely untouched, simply because nobody in the room remembered it was there.
When auditing a jurisdiction, ask what it operated before the system currently under discussion.

- OpenStreetMap ALPR node data — nationwide extract118,623 mapped camera coordinates retrieved via the Overpass API on 2026-08-15, queried per state across the 50 states and the District of Columbia, and committed as a snapshot. Community-contributed, licensed ODbL 1.0, attributed per record. These are volunteer observations, not Unsurveilled field verification — we have not personally confirmed any pole, and the Atlas labels them accordingly. Coverage is whatever mappers have recorded, so a place with no points has no OSM coverage rather than no cameras. Full extraction method, accepted tags, and known false-positive risks are documented at /atlas/methodology/. SUPERSEDES an earlier snapshot of 613 coordinates limited to the Phoenix East Valley; the ID is retained because published records cite it, and this note records the change rather than hiding it.NGO research
