The Warren City Council voted 4-3 to let the Warren Police Department extend its license plate reader contract for a second two-year period at $132,000. The vote was a re-vote: Councilwoman Melody Magee had asked to reconsider her June 2026 vote, when the extension passed 4-2. On the July 14 re-vote Magee, Angela Rogensues, and Henry Newnan voted against; Mindy Moore, Gary Boike, Dave Dwyer, and Jonathan Lafferty voted in favor. Warren has used Flock Safety since 2021.

What happened afterwards
Renewed by one vote. Warren is the counterweight to the Metro Detroit cancellation cluster: while Clawson, Ferndale, Menominee, Milford, and Westland ended their Flock arrangements between Nov 2025 and July 2026, Warren — the region's largest of these cities — kept its program.
