The El Paso City Council voted 6-2 against an agenda item placed by City Reps. Chris Canales and Lily Limon that would have directed city staff not to renew any existing contracts with Flock Group Inc., leaving the police department's grant-funded ALPR program in place. Canales and Limon were the only votes to end it. Limon and Canales both raised concerns about who can access the collected data, with Limon specifically warning it could reach federal immigration authorities. The city had installed roughly 150 Flock cameras citywide beginning in summer 2025.
